Driving a hybrid car is a great way to help the environment and save money on gas. There are now many vehicles to choose from and shopping for one can be tedious if you don’t know what to look for. In this article, we will compare two of the most popular hybrid sedans in the market today, namely the 2011 Toyota Prius and Ford Fusion Hybrid, and try to make that job a little easier for you.

The Toyota Prius has become almost synonymous with hybrids — so much so that it is difficult to even think of a hybrid without the Prius being the first thing that jumps into your mind. It is also hard to think about fuel efficiency without thinking of the Prius; after all, its combined fuel economy of 50 mpg is yet to be overtaken by any other hybrid sedan on the market today including the Ford Fusion Hybrid. And its status as the best selling hybrid in the world and the most fuel efficient hybrid in North America remains well intact. In comparison, the Ford Fusion Hybrid has an EPA estimated combined fuel economy of 39 mpg – a respectable figure but no match for the Prius. As such, if fuel economy is what’s most important to you, I would definitely recommend the Prius over the Ford Fusion Hybrid or any other hybrid for that matter.

But aside from fuel economy, what are some other areas you should keep in mind? For starters, the Prius’s unique and futuristic styling is not for everyone. There are some who love it but others hate it. With the Ford Fusion Hybrid, however, you gain the benefits of a stylish, conventional sedan combined with the practicality of a hybrid. Apart from the hybrid badge on the vehicle, you really can’t distinguish it from a regular Fusion. It also outperforms its Prius counterpart when it comes to performance. The Fusion Hybrid comes with a more powerful 2.5 L, 156 horsepower engine compared to the Prius’s 1.8 L, 134 horsepower engine. It can also accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just over 8 seconds whereas the Prius takes 9.2 seconds. Moreover, the fact that it can travel at 47 mph on electric power alone is quite impressive. Reports also suggest that the Fusion Hybrid offers a smoother and more comfortable ride than the Prius – sudden turns and lane changes can be a bit tricky with the Prius.

In terms of features and options, both vehicles fare quite well. The Ford Fusion Hybrid’s instrument panel is intuitive and well liked by drivers. An innovative “green motivator” featuring a vine that gains or loses leaves depending on fuel efficient driving habits is a really nice touch. On the other hand, the Prius’s dashboard has been criticized for not being arranged in the most intuitive way and does take some getting used to. The Prius is probably more high tech than its counterpart and offers many advanced features that one can opt in for including an Advanced Guidance Parking System, Lane Keep Assist, and Pre-Collision System. Lastly, the Prius’s starting base price of ,995 is well below the Fusion Hybrid’s ,100. Of course, the final price will depend on the trim and options you opt in for.

Best hybrid vehicles became one of the hottest issues at present. These vehicles were created due to subsequent increase in prices of fuel. Hybrid vehicles were then made available on the market.
Car manufacturers released a lot of car models to meet the demands of competition. Giant car companies combined two or more power source for cars. The most popular of these power source combinations is the gasoline and electric engine tandem.
The best hybrid vehicles in the market are listed below.
2010 Toyota Prius

The Prius is considered the world’s best-selling car. It is equipped with an efficient engine with an estimated fuel consumption one gallon for a distance of 50 miles. Toyota was able to sell 1.6 million Prius since it was introduced in 1997.
In addition to the fuel-efficient engine, the Prius also boasts of its large trunk space. It’s trunk is larger than any other hybrid car in the market. The 2010 version was upgraded by installing it with a more powerful engine. The new engine installed is still a fuel-efficient one.

2010 Ford Fusion

The Ford Fusion is a hybrid vehicle with a wider backseat space. Just like the Prius, the Fusion has a full-hybrid powertrain. This car can easily be propelled using electricity. It belongs to the most fuel-efficient sedans with an estimated consumption of 39 miles per gallon.

2010 GMC Yukon
The GMC Yukon is one of the most advanced hybrid SUVs. It has a seating capacity good for eight persons, and is able to tow a maximum of 6000 pounds. Yukon is a large SUV made for American markets. Despite its size, Yukon retained its V8 engine with a 50% fuel consumption reduction.

2010 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid

Dubbed as Yukon’s cousin, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid ranks as the 8th of the ten large SUVs considered affordable. The Chevy Tahoe has a seating capacity intended for seven persons. It is not as fuel-efficient as the Prius, but the Tahoe is capable of bringing heavy things far more than the Prius can. Just like the Yukon, this vehicle can go off-road, tow trailers such as those used in transporting horses, and tow boats for a vacation.

All of these vehicles belong to the best hybrid vehicles due to the fact that they were able to keep their power outputs, New Car Pricing and at the same time cut their fuel consumption.

Hybrid cars, which are able to run using either gasoline or an alternative fuel or electricity, are the latest buzz in the world of cleaner and greener vehicles. Ford has come out with the Ford Fusion Hybrid for that purpose. Ford is a company that has been delivering quality products since 1903. They manufacture cars, SUV’s, trucks, Hybrids as well as race cars. The Ford Company has a long history of environmental awareness.

As its name suggests the Ford Fusion Hybrid is a gas – electric version of the popular Ford Fusion, which is a mid size family sedan. It was introduced with a new model and designs in 2009. It is 190.6 inches in length, 80.1 inches in width and 56.9 inches in height with a base curb weight of 3720 pounds.

The basic features of the Ford Fusion hybrid include dual zone climate control, power windows, locks and mirrors, keyless entry, automatic headlights, cap less refueling, ABS and traction control. Included with these features is a six speaker stereo, 17 inch wheels, traction control, eco – responsible seats and a reverse sensor. There is an option to choose a GPS system along with heated leather seats and/or a Sony audio playback system. The Ford Fusion hybrid can run at speeds of up to 47 miles per hour on the power from the electricity batteries alone. The Ford Fusion’s engine is a 2.5 liter inline – four with 155 horsepower along with 136 pounds – feet of torque bolted into a CVT transmission. Like the other hybrid cars, the Ford Fusion hybrid utilizes regenerative braking, an upgraded nickel – metal hydride battery which is claimed to be 20 % more powerful than previous batteries in its class, along with a smart climate control system. The Ford Fusion hybrid also features the Smart Gauge system, which helps drivers to drive better and more safely. The car is capable of 700 miles of in town driving. The hybrid is highly tuned for safety and comes with both side impact and side curtain air bags along with a belt minder for safety belts. There is a tire pressure monitoring system and dual front airbags as well as a post crash SOS system. The car can carry up to 5 passengers with a passenger volume of 99.8 cubic feet.

The Ford Fusion hybrid starts at a price of ,270 which is higher than current Hybrids in the market but it makes up for the price with highly advanced mileage and safety standards.

With oil prices regularly topping the 0-a-day mark and the need for every household to do its bit to combat climate change getting more urgent, the case for owning a hybrid gets stronger with each passing day.

In this article we look at the main advantages of owning a hybrid and try to address any concerns you may have about owning one.

Hybrid cars rely on an electric engine as well as a conventional engine. If the car is running at low speeds, it switches to electric and stops burning gas. While the technology is still relatively new, most major car manufacturers now have hybrid models that are as safe and reliable as any conventional car, and in some cases even more so.

Hybrid cars do cost a little more than conventional vehicles but hybrid owners find out that they easily recoup that money and more in just a few years. Hybrids work out cheaper for a number of reasons.

Savings

To start with you will save significantly on fuel costs, and the more that the price of oil rises the greater these savings will be. You can easily get 30 extra miles per gallon from an SUV compared to a conventional car. How, much you save every year will depend on your mileage, but for most people it is in the region of hundreds of dollars. There are also other savings to be made. The government offers ongoing tax benefits to hybrid owners that can cut motoring costs significantly over time, while there may also be savings to be made on the cost of insuring the car.

Whether a hybrid car will save you money will depend on how you use it. Those who clock up high mileage every year will make the biggest savings. However, if you clock anything above 10,000 miles a year a hybrid should make good financial sense as the fuel costs will save you money in the long run.

A few years ago, anyone looking to buy a hybrid car was limited in choice. However, that has changed with Toyota, Honda, Ford, Lexus and more top car manufacturers releasing quality hybrid models. And since hybrids first began appearing on the market in 2000, the technology has continued to improve and any early teething pains seem to have been ironed out.

If you are looking for the greenest car on the market, the Toyota Prius or the Honda Civic hybrids are the best choice for you. Other models offer better power and acceleration but higher emissions.

At present, California has by far the highest rate of hybrid car use in the United States. In 2006, 67,533 hybrid cars were registered there, followed by Florida in a distant second with 12,900 hybrid car registrations.

In the same year, just over 1.5 per cent of all new cars registered in the United States were hybrids. Of these, the Toyota Prius was by far the most popular, accounting for 42.8% of the hybrid market. The Toyota Highlander came in second at 12.5%, followed by the Honda Civic at 12.3%. More than 75% of all hybrid cars registered in 2006 were manufactured by Toyota/Lexus, so there is little doubt who the market leader is.

The number of people driving hybrids is increasing steadily and they are likely to account for a much higher proportion of vehicles on the nation’s roads in coming years. Also, manufacturers are constantly exploring new ways to fuel hybrids more efficiently and to reduce emissions further, so they will only get better. Expect to see vehicles using hydrogen fuel cells and bio fuels and various other combination on the roads in the near future.

What would have become of man without lighting? Wall lighting illuminated the night and profoundly changed human existence. Wall lighting creates a comfortable living space whether it’s for decoration or ambiance. It helps create magic and fantasy, for otherwise there would just be a dark shadowed space.

It has been rumored that in BC people would take a rock and cover the rock with moss. They would then soak the rock with animal fat and ignite. For control, wicks were later introduced…

From history we are aware that in the 1700’s most homes or plantations used either candle fixtures or candelabras. They also carried candle sticks and candle lanterns. Then in the early 1800’s oil lanterns were used. Most of these fixtures were made from tin, iron or wood. These lanterns were all hand made and some looked like the lighting fixtures we have today. Around 1860 kerosene oil and gas lighted many of these fixtures.

Then in 1879 the greatest invention of all came to be. This was the year that Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. This helped mold cultures for the Art Deco Era. Gas/electric combination lighting was used. Electric lighting was less expensive and less dangerous then gas. These fixtures were abundant in people’s homes and were usually hung by a chain.

Electricity kept dropping in price until 1960. The equipment that generated the electricity began to climb and rise. This pushed up the utility bills and the average person started to struggle. People started to turn off their lights, they installed dimmers, timers, and sensors.

More and more people are starting to change to compact florescent lights. The downside is the color has less intense quality and a slower start up time. The latest is the LED. It is quick to start and the quality is exceptional.

Interior lighting refers to all lights within a building that is not exposed to the elements. Exterior lighting is the reverse. This lighting is outdoors and is exposed to the elements.

There are traditional, modern, and decorative style wall lights. You can have lighting fixtures from your wall, floor, table and ceiling.

There are also many different kinds of wall fixtures. There are adjustable, hanging, lanterns, torch, lamp, vanity lights, and wall sconces.

Wall mounted lighting fixtures extend from the wall between 4 and 10 inches. An adjustable fixture has an up light or down light with a swing arm The body of a hanging fixture hangs from a stem that is extended outwards from a wall. A wall lamp is any fixture that has a shade and is a similar style to a table lamp. The lights around or above a mirror are known as vanity lights. The wall sconce is a wall mounted fixture that only has one light.

You can find all these styles and types to fit any budget. There are many places to find all the unique and different varieties. Please make certain whatever you choose reflects your personality and the overall theme of your home.

With the current financial situation and gas prices that leave many consumers unpleasantly surprised, more and more Americans start thinking serious when buying a new car. And the part of people who are considering alternatives keeps growing. People start using bikes, buses, biofuels and hybrid cars. And if the first three options are pretty clear, the latter could raise questions in some. What is a hybrid anyway? Simply put a hybrid car is a vehicle that uses two (or even more) power sources to make it move. It could be any combination of fuels and energy cells possible to put into one vehicle, but there are certain production types of hybrids. Hybrid cars provide a set of advantages if compared to ordinary gas engines and here’s a brief overview: Gas Mileage. One of the main reasons people consider hybrids it’s the greater gas mileage if compared to standard cars. This is due to the better fuel efficiency that is obtained using an electric motor. Batteries in hybrids that use electric motors store energy that is obtain when braking and give it back to the motor, reducing the amount of gas consumed by the primary engine. For example, 2008 Toyota Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid have an EPA about 46 MPG and 42 MPG respectively. Types of Hybrids. Not all hybrids are designed to economize fuel. You have to know exactly what type of hybrid you are dealing with. There are many hybrids that are designed to achieve better performance and power rather than save gas. Many sports cars use an additional electric engine to improve the efficiency of the standard gas engine. This type of hybrid can give you an advantage over a car with the same horse powers but with a bigger engine, however if compared to a vehicle with an identical engine the gas use can actually be greater. So be careful when selecting a hybrid and make sure you know what type you are dealing with. Some hybrids will actually have a lower mileage than big SUVs. Discounts. When buying a hybrid you can take advantage of many discounts, though their number is decreasing. Some models of hybrids still qualify for federal tax incentives, as well as parking incentives, tax incentives, driving incentives and other advantages. When you sum up these saving with the amounts of gas you’ll be able to economize you’ll see that buying a hybrid is not such an expensive move after all. Car Insurance. Buying a hybrid will also save you some amount of money on auto insurance premiums. Hybrid cars are entering the market with interesting discounts and possibilities, one of them being discounts on insurance for hybrid vehicles offered by the majority of insurance companies. Many insurance companies provide up to 10% discounts on hybrids depending on the type of the hybrid. It is recommended to shop around between different insurers — sometimes the savings can be even bigger. Try comparing car insurance quotes online selecting the exact type of hybrid you want to buy.
